1.6 16V FI.. Can I go with a 1.3 head and a Weber

Trying to decide if I want to tackle the wiring and other things that go with putting a 1.6 16V Fi 92 model into my 87 Samurai. Can I put a stock 1.3 head and maybe a weber on the 1600 short block?

Thanks guys

Not to sound like a smart @$$ but why would you do that? You might as well sell the 16 valve to someone that will use it and get it's benefits and put a good 1.3 in yours.

Search this topic you'll see the bountiful info on it.

I would search the hell out of the subject and come to a conclusion then.

You may be able to get a decent amount for a "good" 16v and put the $ toward whatever you deem is your best choice.

Edit:
If you are willing to pay you could get all the parts necessary right here on the board and at your local auto parts store. I am going FI and am not even using a stock FI tank. You don't really need one if you figure out what your route is going to be. Spend some time to find the info that pertains to what you want to do.

We could tell you what we think... but that may not be right.

Do the 16 valve!!!! BTW, to answer your question, yes you can do that. I did. But I was not happy with the performance. I even had the Isky cam, header, and no exhaust. I was better than the same 1.3 but not much. I regret not going with the 16 valve then, maybe now I wouldn't be bothering with the 4.3L Oh well, live and learn.
But like everyone is saying, you could have gotten an 8 valve 1.6 and used that block too. Cheaper than a 16 valve. Then again, you could sell that head and FI components and make some money?

Just spend the extra $$$, get a harness, and an external fuel pump. Voila! You're done. Enjoy

Cheers,
Steve

So you want to get a good engine, then take off everthing that makes it worthwile, and put on items that will kill all the power gains .. Umm .. yeah go for it, that sounds like a smart decesion.

Yeah that sounds about right.

If it were an 8v like mentioned above I'd say go for it if you dont have $ or other stuff to make it work. But what do I know? If you search, it will come.

Don't forget you'll need: fan, starter, alternator, coil, air cleaner, exhaust manifold, head pipe, engine room wiring harness, under dash wiring harness, ECM, and speedometer.

Plus motor mounts and I am sure there will be some other odds and ends.
