Breaking stabilizer shock bracket

Since I did my SPOA two years ago I have broken two of the brackets that attach the stabilizer shock to my pitman arm. I have a OME shock and a drop pitman arm. I cant be the only one who has had this problem. What is the fix for this problem? thanks Scott

Beats me, I ran a SPOA with 38.5's with a Zlink and when I cut it off for the V8 swap it was still on there sturdy as the day we got it, something has to be binding up, maybe the stabilizer itself binds up and puts all the force onto the bracket? do you have a new stabilizer shock on it?

Re: Breaking stabilizer shock bracket

Search stabilizer bracket. In the past couple months it has been determined that the brackets may not be able to hold up to the stress when used with the drop arm. Jim

Re: Breaking stabilizer shock bracket

The drop pitman arm puts the bracket on a downward angle. As the arm rotates through its arc it causes the damper unit to twist the bracket and it breaks.
Solution is to fabricate another bracket with the mount staying horizontal through the arc of travel.

Re: Breaking stabilizer shock bracket

I posted this same thing a few days ago. I am running a 3" drop pitman and OME stabalizer too..I noticed my steering feeling alittle funny is how I come to find the bracket broke. I am going to try another stock one,but will be looking into fabbing something up before it breaks again...wonder if there is a market for such a thing?? With all the talented people and vendors on this board maybe somebody can come up with a stronger one (hint hint)

Seems like the easy way out of this is to go with an aftermarket stabilizer. It goes between the axle housing and the steering. Jim
