Techincal 16v ECM diffences questions
O.K. I swapped in a 1.6L 16v & ECM out of an 1996 automatic two door 4x4 Geo Tracker into my Samurai. It runs great BUT I couldn't hook up the MIL because I didn't swap in the auto tranny so I'd always have a lit MIL. This bugs me. So I just got a ECM out of a 1996 Sidekick for a spare ECM incase mine dies. The previous owner didn't know if it was out of an automatic or a standard four door or two door, just that it was out of an 96 Sidekick. I tried the ECM & the motor runs fine BUT I had wired in a switch to the A/C signal on my ECM to be able to ramp up the motor RPM, now when I flick the switch the motor ramps up for a few seconds then idles right back down again.
So the questions:
If I wire up my MIL will I still get a lit lamp...it's still OBD2 right???
Why does the ECM not idle up the motor on a call for A/C running (also with P.S. switch)? Did I not give the computer enough time to "program itself?"
Can anyone tell me the difference between the two computers based on the numbers on the ECMs?
