Replacement FM antenna?

I snapped the stock FM antenna off in a trail at the Melt, and haven't bothered to replace it yet. In my preperations for Zuwharrie, I started thinking that it might be nice to have a little music on the way down.

I was originally going to run down to a local auto parts store and find a metal replacement, but I would really prefer some type of flexible antenna.

Has anyone found a suitable flexible FM antenna?

(I did a search, I found a few really old posts, but nothing specific)

Re: Replacement FM antenna?

Get an antenna off of a 1984 Nissan/Datsun truck. They almost bolt right on! $9.99 at most auto parts stores that carry them. If not go to a car stereo shop and ask them to order one for you. Otherwise go to the dealer or try your luck in the junkyard.

Check this flexable antenna out. I'm thinking about using it when I get around to putting tunes in my Zook.

Re: Replacement FM antenna?

I have a flexible antenna, is a wire almost as thick as a coat hanger, bolted to the spot where the real antenna used to be. Previous owner did it and it looks really ugly, but I have no complaints with reception, its perfect.

Ford Festiva
Free.

Took and angle grinder to frame to open hole up. Cut old antennae wire, taped the new antennae wire to it. Pulled old one through from the radio end. Works great, free, took about an hour of fooling around in the garage to install. Probably the same as the ones the others have stated.

Re: Replacement FM antenna?

I found a little rubber replacement antenna at Pep Boys that screwed right in to the factory base. Works fine, no need to take anything apart, and it was cheap enough

Only downside it it flops around quite a bit @ 45mph+, but I guess I can find something to secure it.
