16v starting like a N/A motor in cold weather..??

OK my 16valve starts normally in weather above 50 degrees. When it's around 40 degrees or colder it have to pump the gas a couple times & it starts right up. If I don't give the pedal a couple stomps it WILL NOT start. What's up with this? My stock 1.3L started better than this in cold weather

I'll agree, that is odd for a FI engine.
My 1.3L EFI also started at -45 C after I had forgotten to plug it in the night before. I did have to put my foot on the gas a tiny bit, and keep it running for a few seconds, also had to rev it up before I let out the clutch, haha.
That was a cold winter..
