How many here First Aid / First Responder trained?

Randy's roll makes me wonder how many of you have first aid, or better yet, first responder training.

Stuff happens but lives are saved in the first minutes.

I realize the injuries were minor, but with very few "What Ifs" being fulfilled, it could have been much worse.

I have had my first aid/CPR certification current for eight years and serve on a medical emergency response team at work. I don't think I've saved any lives but I have helped people get through some scary events.

You can have all the training in the world and it won't help you if you are the one that needs the "saving". Use caution when you are out and refrain from acts caused by testosterone poisoning.

Now that being said, I am a retired Firefighter-Medic. But I am not anxious to practice my old profession.

EMT-B IV certified, I usually only carry a small amount of gear on the trails as that fixing you on the trail is not going to help you, a hospital is.

I'm an ER Nurse in the busiest ER in Chicago. I started off as an EMT, and also served on the West Nile Virus Emergency Response team. I travel at all times with a first aid kit equal to a mobile ICU. Atropene, Epi, IV's, Liter bags. Everything but a defib. You just never know when you will save a life. I know cause I do it everyday.

I work as a Firefighter/EMT and carry alot of medical gear with me at all times! I've got everything short of an O2 tank! That is something that I never leave home without.
I was going thru Medic school when I was in the military, then they sent me overseas and had to quit.

Re: How many here First Aid / First Responder trai

11 years as an EMT/Firefighter. Currently 15 years OEC Ski Patroller/instructor. Not to put down EMT, but they work out of an aid car. OEC (Outdoor Emergency Care) receives the same training as EMT except they specialize in outdoor issues and work out of a light weight backpack. I carry the same one I ski with when I offroad. also professional CPR and AED

Driving off-road needs to be done well, like throwing a fly at a rising trout in dark, calm waters. Take pride in the task, and the reward is more than the destination.
