OT. There\'a an air compressor in my shop!

Yahoo! I finally, after deciding I needed an air compressor 2+ years ago, bought one tonight! I stopped by a pawn shop on my way home from work- just lookin around. I do that sometimes. Anyway, there in the tools was a Craftsman 5 HP, 33 gal, belt drive compressor, $199.95.

That price was half of the 7 hp 60 gal machine that I had told myself I had to have but hadn't afforded. So I got home, talked to the Beloved Spousal Unit, promised her dineer at Red Lobster & Outback- this month, and she said go buy it!

So I did. $160 + tax made it $170 and some change. Now I just need to install the 20 amp dual circuit breaker in the box, wire it up, mount some water separators on the wall and I will be in business!

Man I'm happy tonight!

The compressor is installed and working! I spent most of Saturday and part of Sunday getting it to look like this.

Harbor Freight had the hose reel on sale Saturday, $20. That hose reaches the entire shop and I've got enough to reach the carport when I need to. I'm a happy camper now!

Cool, very handy to have and a good score.

That looks like a good functional set-up.
I recently got an air compressor myself. Seeing as though I'm becoming an old man, I figured it's time for some air tools. All I can say now is, Good Grief why did I wait so long!! Its probably one of my best work shop investments!

Nice looking setup, and good find on the compressor.

How noisy is the compressor? I have a similar unit, although it's 5HP "oilless" 30 gal Craftsman, and it's so loud I can hear it in my house 75 feet away with the door closed. I wish I had gotten a belt drive, I hear the oilless are short lived, noisy junk compared to belt drive units.

Re: OT. There\'a an air compressor in my shop!

I actually added on to my shop a room just big enough for a 60 gal upright machine, partly to keep the noise out. But that turned into ladder storage and I got the right price on this one.

Its noisy enough to drown out the radio when its pumping but it goes from 0 psi to 115 psi in under 3 minutes so I am not complaining.
