What is this and What goes here?

What is this and What goes here? It's obviously a hose of somekind that attaches there.

While trying to track down a misterious & slow oil leak I noticed that this little thingy did not have a hose attached to it. I think it should.

Question: What is it & where does the hose go from here?

Other topic. The oil leak is slow & looks like it is coming from the back of the engine just below the distributor. First thought was the O ring on the disty but there is no oil on or near the disty. hmmmmm. any ideas?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Throw that fuel pump away and buy an electric walborl pump. about 60 dollars. It'll save your engine if it's still ok. That's the fuel pump vent tube. WHEN the fuel pump goes bad it'll leak oil and replace the oil with gas. If it is not spewing oil out that tube you're really probabaly ok for now, they do go bad and when they do..........

Your fuel pump needs to be replaced. The diaphragm is going bad and it's pumping out engine oil.

Re: What is this and What goes here?

Oh my, that would explain the fain wiff of gasoline I smelled on the trail today.

It looked like that is where the oil was coming from but I couldn't think of why a vaccume would be leaking oil.

Thanks for the quick replys. I'll shut her down until I can get a new fuel pump.

Any suggestions other than a $60 walboro replacement?

Re: What is this and What goes here?

I replaced my oil spitting stock fuel pump with a Carter #M70319 and got about 2000 miles on it since then. Seems OK with a stock carb so far.
