Do I need this on my tank ?

What is the small bottle on the top of a Tracker petrol tank for, the hoses come out of the tank into a small bottle and return into the tank.I can blow thru the bottle and theres no valves or any thing so what I want to know is do I need this ??. I want to remove it to gain as much lift as I can with the tank.. Any ideas ?? I've got the tank mounts 3 1/4' higher than standard and want to fit it back in tomorrow but need to know about the bottle

Re: Do I need this on my tank ?

That little tank is a vapor/liquid feul separator. For street use you need it, as it drains condensed vapor
back to the tank. Mr inspector wouldn't want to see it missing.
