1.6 install question

I'm installing my 1.6 with a TT clone kit (wink wink) My question is do I reuse the stock arms that hold the engine mount to the block? Or swap the passenger side from the 1.3?
The reason is I"m not able to get it to sit down in the frame. I have the passenger side in but the driver side is at the top of the mount on the frame!
I'm baffled and tired so I'll see if there are any answers in the morning!....

Re: 1.6 install question

I seem to recall that there is an adapter plate that off sets that side? (or a redrilled mount I don't remember. someone with a current kit jump in here.)

Re: 1.6 install question

Gotta have a small bracket to put it together. Simple piece, make it yourself. There are pics on the Zook vendor sites to get an idea of what you need.....

Re: 1.6 install question

I made up the one for the passenger side the same as the one in phot and the small plate to angle the drivers side as well.
The problem is it's lowered in the frame and the passenger side lined up the driver side is still up near the top of the frame....I was looking at the 1.3 mounts on the pass side and it is shorter, so I wonder if I swap it over it'll work....Zookin is looking bad at this point....

Why in the heck do you allways do major overhauls right before my event? or get the wife preggers. I am starting to get the impression you are doing these things on purpose.

Re: 1.6 install question

All I know is that the Calmini kit comes with a new, modified, mount for the passenger side and the spacer goes on the Drivers side. I had forgot to switch them and fought for an hour till I realized it!!

Re: 1.6 install question

I wasn't very confident about my 1.3 lasting much longer since it was making some really nasty noises. So I had prepared all the mounts and plate in advance to just "bolt" it in.....Then there was the Ac bracket, double pulleys, alt bracket and now this "it don't fit" problem....I'm doing my best to get it together Glenn and worse comes to worst I'll be ther on Saturday morning at the gate...LOL!

At least this time I can sleep in my nice cozy bed in the motorhome.....
