Re: HELP.........DAMN NOISE

Check your fluids... Tcase, Tranny, F&R thirds...
Check your rear brakes...
Check your front brakes...

I had a weird noise too... turned out to be the speedo cable.

It's probably SATAN though...

Re: HELP.........DAMN NOISE

Check your U-joints. Sometimes a bering cup or two will internally disintegrate. as long as the cross
happens to hit the cups "square" its quiet. if its not, noise. And it can be random as all get out.

When checking U-joints be sure to block the tires and leave it out of gear and the parking brake off. A load
on the drive train can make them seem tight whem there actually a mess and ready to explode.

It's all because of SATAN.

Re: HELP.........DAMN NOISE

What i do it jack the rear off the ground, secue the front wheels, fire it up, put it in 4th and get underneith and see where the noise is comming from. It's pretty safe if u think about it, if it does fall to the ground, it will just stall, only have to worry about being crushed.

there is a pleasant thought......crushed....actually NOT that funny.....I know a lady who's BF was killed that way....the vehicle slipped off the jack stands and something under the vehicle went right through his heart.

Re: HELP.........DAMN NOISE

Happy,

Just a question & a thought here......

Does the noise stop when you push the clutch pedal in? I did read where you said you have to slow down to 20mph, but when you do that does the noise completely stop?
I am wondering if it could be your release barring for your clutch. HTH

Re: HELP.........DAMN NOISE

the noise does NOT go away when clutch is in...I also thought the same so I tried it....no luck

It also does not go away when brakes are applied.

When it first started it would stop by itself after awhile. Now I have to slow down, it seems the magic number is 20mph.

Re: HELP.........DAMN NOISE

I had a truck one time that had an outer axle bearing go bad..it made noise that was hard to diagnose, and it was speed related. The bearing surface on the axle got galled and made the noise.

If you have a bent wheel it could possibly cause a speed related rub..like the drum rubbing the backing plate or something.

Re: HELP.........DAMN NOISE

mebbe part of the exhaust vibrating against something? If it gets to a certain temp maybe something warps just a tiny bit and brings it in contact with part of the frame or something?
