When did they change

Ive got an 88.5 parts rig but the driveshafts are still the small bolt pattern. Everything else is the same so why arent the driveshafts. Can i jus change the outer end (the part that bolts to the axle) from the small to the big ones. Can i drill out the flange on the axle to make or work or what other options do i have. I was hoping to have a full set of spares but i guess that idea is down the drain.

Does somebody have a good set of the later ones that they want to trade for a perfect set of the earlier ones.

Re: When did they change

I've seen 88.5's with both the 12mm and 14mm flanges. Suzuki probably just finished up what they had before they converted over completely to the bigger pattern.

Re: When did they change

howdy,
i also sit in you boat. i have a 88.5 JX with the 12mm flanges. this happens because they wanted to use as many as the old parts up before starten to use the new parts, more costly not to use what you have then what you are changen to.

Re: When did they change

I think im gonna try to jus change the outer ends so that i can use my spare front driveshaft. The slip joint on the one thats in there right now is extremely loose and its got me pretty worried. Ill post and let you know how it works. Altho i dont see why it wouldnt tho.

Re: When did they change

From what I understand, you can drill the larger pinion or tranfer case flanges with the small bolt pattern, but not the smaller pinion or tranfer case flange for the larger bolt pattern. Not enough meat to do the latter. I have not tryed it yet, but may have to in the future.
