taking apart leaf spring

I'm taking apart a used spring and putting the bottom leaf on my leaf pack. My bottom leaf is broken so im replacing it. The two clamps that hold it togeather...I have no idea how to take those off. I've tried bending them but thats no easy task. I'm down to one last plan really...I could give them to someone else who can take them and heat them up and try to bend them. That means a whole day without a vehicle for me though. Any other ways?

Re: taking apart leaf spring

If you are not reusing them just use a sawzall, or hacksaw. JCC

Re: taking apart leaf spring

I start bending them back with a punch and a sledge
hammer, then finnish with a pry bar.The spring must be held
in a large vise.
