How to question: Wiring in a third taillight

I recently picked up one of the third taillight fixtures off of a newer Zuk, the kind that mounts onto the spare tire rack. It fits good, but the guy that i got it from cut the wires and I don't know where or how to wire it in to make it work properly, and more importantly, how not to screw up my wiring harness. It's only two wires, so it must only be a brakelight. Anybody mind looking under theirs and explaining how it is connected?
Thanks

Do you want to use it as a brake light or a tail light? For a tail light, just splice it into the brown wire running into your lights. For the brake, splice it into the wire that has current when the brakes a pressed. (red i think). Hope this helps. Damon.

Sounds simple enough. I would like it to be both brakelight and taillight, but honestly I haven't even checked the bulb to see if it does both.

If you set it up as a brake light, it will flash when you turn on the blinkers.

How is that? If he is still running the regulars light on the rear, it not going to flash, unless he wires it into the turnsignals. Remember he running a 87 samurai.

Yes, they used the amber turn lamps separate from the stop lights back until at least 84 and probably 82.

As far as the running/tail lights, no you can't run it like that. That would partialy defeat the purpose of
the 3rd barke light. It's intended to wake up the people behind you with a light from a source without
any other distracting light.

Wire it to either brake light.

Does not matter, even you are running a 95, from 86 to 95 they all use the same brake light and turn signals. Unless you have change them from factory.

Re: How to question: Wiring in a third taillight

OK, makes sense to me. There is two wires leading to the third brake light, I assume that one is a ground. Is this correct?

Re: How to question: Wiring in a third taillight

Correct, open the light and ohm the wires out. This way you find out which is ground.
