What is the most miles on a Samurai engine?

I was just woundering how many miles people have seen on a deicent running samurai engine. I heard they run for quite a while. I'm running on 160k and running fairly good rebuild wouldn't hurt but thats a project I'll have to get motaviated for some other time.

Any ways just woundering how high up there some zuks are Wouldn't doubt 200k

Re: What is the most miles on a Samurai engine?

My baby Samurai has 180,000 miles on it and it'll still run 90mph all day long. It has a few oil leaks, but it has no problem passing CA smog checks or laying a little rubber in first gear.

My 88.5 has 156,000 on the original motor.

Still has the original oil pan gasket.
All of the front seals had to be replaced. The rear seal is original and is leaking a little.

The engine burns/loses oil. Bad not bad enough to warrant replacing the engine yet. I plan on driving the engine until it blows up or starts using more oil than gas

Re: What is the most miles on a Samurai engine?

My first motor I pulled when it had 155,000. Main seal was real bad, and the exhaust valves where sticking, but it still ran strong before I pulled it. Im on a swift block(1298cm) eight valve head with about 30,000 on it, give or take. She runs strong, but now with the 31's and 3" backspaced wheels 5th gear is a little lacking. Maybe time for a GRS1. Ive heard that some of the diesal sammi motors will run forever.

Is your sammi stock? Weber? Header? What size tires are you running? SPOA?SPUA? Gearing? Just interested in you 90+mph laying rubber 1.3litre engine.

My 2nd Sami had 163,+++ on it when I sold it.
Used oil and sounded a little ruff, but ran good.

Re: What is the most miles on a Samurai engine?

The original engine had 137,000 miles when the crank keyway went so I swapped in a "well used" short block with 60~70K on it and used my original cylinder head. All new seals & gaskets so no leaks at all but even the old seals were in fair shape. The valve train is noisy but she runs good, doesn't smoke & cranks with a quick turn of the key.

Re: What is the most miles on a Samurai engine?

I first rebuilt my daily driver with 223,000 miles on it. It still ran great but burned a little oil. The guy that rebuilt it said he could have bored it 10 thousands over and it would have been as good as new.
