Re: External Cage

Here is a picture with a Samurai with an external cage. It is from Glen Wakefield's web site. The Samurai in the picture is like the best Samurai I ever seen. I sort of did my Samurai like this, with its stickers and other stuff.

Re: External Cage

i just followed the body lines around the doors with the two main roll bars and welded them to the frame. the only problem is some bad vibes at around fourty mph.not terrible just a little p.i.t.a.i also joined the brush guard to the main bar across the front fender at the top where the fender and hood come together. you may want to rubber isolate the mounts on some pads.but i would not take any amount of money for them they have paid for themselfs two fold.i have put it on both sides with very little damage. sorry i do not have some pics. spent all my money on sammy parts, guess the camera has to wait till vaction this year,so. colorado and moab. good luck mike

Re: External Cage

Mike,

I'd be def. interested in piccies...

posting a foto is easy now...

below the "check spelling" bottom on the post-mail-page there is a check-box that says "i want to preview my post and/or attach a file" - make sure its checked - then click continue

on the next page you will be asked the file-name... just use the search feature and your foto will be uploaded (smaller than 100k-size)

bye
alfred

Re: External Cage

Here is a picture of a Land Rover Defender 90 with an external cage. It is a hard top thou.

Copy and paste:
http://www.badrover.com/rovermodels.htm

I saw a jeep with a removable hard top with an external cage before. He built over the hard top closely so that the cage would be there and external.

Re: External Cage

ALL RIGHT I FINALY GOT THE DAMN THING DOWN TO SIZE,I KNOW I HAVE NOT FINISHED THE BACK, HAVE NOT DECIDED ON A REAR BUMPER.I JUST STARTED TO BUILD TWO MORE CAGES FOR A COUPLE OF FRIENDS OF MINE, BUILT A SET OF ROCK SLIDERS OUT OF THE SAME SIZE TUBING . GOING TO BUILD THE MAIN HOOPS OFF OF THEM ,MUCH SIMPLER THAN THE WAY I BUILT MINE. AND THEY ARE STOUT AS HELL.I WAS GOING WITH 3/16 PLATE ROCK SLIDERS ON MINE ,BUT I HAVE CHANGED MY MIND GOING TO USE TUBING .MIKE
