My first Real Zuk outing

After reading 4x4 mags for 15 years and watching 4x4 videos and 4x4 Tv for 2 years and working on my Zuk for 1 year, I went FOUR WHEELING! We went to the Smokies last Monday with a church group and I trailered my Zuk. We have been wanting to drive through Cades Cove for years in a *eep, We saw bears, turkeys and deer, etc.
Anyway, I went to Tellico Friday. I did not want to go alone, but thats how it worked out. What a time my wife and I had. We did trails 4,5 and 8, and I was happy with my Zuk. I had to try 11 (guard rail) and Now I know why they suggest lockers on the "most difficult" trails. It got pretty hairy and I almost rolled the Zuk. Used the winch and got straight again. Wife said NO MORE MOST DIFFICULT!, so we turned around and went back where we belonged.
It just happened that the only drunk Rednecks we run up on were from my area, and on ATV's. It rained on the last trail and got pretty slick, lucky we were going down this one. I can't wait to go again, and with a group. No pictures
all we had was a video camera. JCC

Re: My first Real Zuk outing

Great post. I can not wait to get my samurai together. This post really makes me want to go wheeling. I just ordered a transfer gears and trying to learn how to change it out myself.

Re: My first Real Zuk outing

I wish my rig was that well-equipped when I hit the trail for the first time!!

thanks for the story. My own virgin wheeling experience wasnt all that long ago, only a couple years. It's FUN!!!

Re: My first Real Zuk outing

I have learned a whole lot of info reading the experiences of the "been there done that" Zuk specialist here. I think I'll work on skid plates and some more flex tricks and learn to drive this thing before I add lockers and go for the "Most Difficult" gusto. JCC
