Worth Doing 2Low?

I am in the process of changing my clutch and was wondering while I was working on my back is it worth taking the T-case out and doing 2Low mod? TIA Jim

Re: Worth Doing 2Low?

Not really, unless you plan to use a modified fork setup . I've learned the hard way recently that removing the center ball can cause some bad wear problems on the sliding collar ....

I had it, never found a use for it. It was a little confusing to know what position the T-case was in.

Re: Worth Doing 2Low?

Does it hurt anything to run in 4low with the hubs unlocked? Just for 10 feet or so?

Re: Worth Doing 2Low?

I run mine in 4Lo with the hubs unlocked frequently for short periods. When I first start the sami, it doesn't want to run very well since it has a carb..and a Pony Carb with a manual choke, at that. My driveway and street are unpaved and very hilly, so instead of letting it idle at 3500 rpms right after I start it with cold oil, I push it down to about 2000 and start moving in 4LO to get it started and rolling around without having to rev too much, slip the clutch too much, rototill the yard too much (spool), etc.

Never had a problem with doing this and it keeps things from getting crusty in the front diff in case I am not going to be 4 wheeling it anytime soon.

Re: Worth Doing 2Low?

I have a locker in the front and I like 2 low ...it gives the power steering a break and it dosent have the understeer issues . It was a pain to get used to shifting it . It is quirky ...but with all that said I still like it .

Re: Worth Doing 2Low?

I have the Petroworks 2 low mod. Like it and use it often. If you have a locker in the front end it's pretty much a must. Yes I know you can go power steering but the strong feedback is telling you you're approaching the mechanical limits
