New winch

I just bought a Warn 8000 lbs winch, mounted it to a custom multi-mount, and made the cables a quick disconnect. My question is what size Battery does everyone run? What Alt. ? Does anyone know what a 88 jx tintop Alt. puts out (amps)? I have a 550cca battery and it seems to kill it with just rewraping the line, And yes it was running.
Thanks
Jimmy

Re: New winch

I haven't run the wiring to the rear yet but soon I'll be able to pull front or rear.

Re: New winch

Jimmy, pic's look good, and so does the winch! Man, I need to get your wife to talk to mine, then maybe she will let me get a winch too
About the alt. question, I'm not sure what everyone else is running, but I'd look into getting the GM alt and a bigger battery! Do a search and you'll find some good info on the GM alt. swap. Some of the other guys here might be able to chime in and give ya some info on it.

Re: New winch

I run an optima red top Gm alt 67 or 63 amp can't remember...it is the same as a CJ7 with an 8cyl. Also I have heavier duty wires...works well with the 9000lb warn
