%#*@!! rocker cover gasket!

OK, what's the trick to getting the rocker cover back on the motor without knocking the gasket off the tabs?? It came off so it has to slip back on somehow, I've turned the crank to get the back rockers down and I'm still having a time...on the second new gasket now

aply a small amount of forma gasket, silicone or what ever you have to the cover apply the gasket wait a couple minutes than put the cover on. you can remove the disty cover to give you more room.

One of the companies I think Permatex, makes some spray that is super sticky. You spray it on the gasket and it holds it in place until you get it all lined up. I'll look tomorrow and see if I can find it. Jim

Re: %#*@!! rocker cover gasket!

I've had good luck using 3M weatherstripping adhesive. Just spread a thin amount on the rocker cover and gasket, let dry a few minutes then stick the gasket to the cover. Holds real good, just make sure you clean the cover with lacquer thinner or such first.

Re: %#*@!! rocker cover gasket!

3M makes a spray adhesive that is great for this kinda stuff. You just spray the gasket wait 30 seconds and slap her on. If you spray both items it makes for a more permanant bond. I use it for everything from kids school projects to targets at the gun range! Most industrial supply houses carry it like Grainger or Cambar etc.
