Need HELP from lockright 1530 owners (Sidekick)...

Could anybody please tell me if the pinion shafts that come with the locker are supposed to be drilled for the retaining pins?
Mine were not, slid out and destroyed the gear pinion

Needless to say I'm extremely pi$$ed off now and I'm looking for a set of 5.12 gears for a Sidekick rear, or even just the pinion since the ring is fine...

Should have just spooled the darned thing...

I installed 1530 in Zuk (Samurai) a while back and what I remember is the ring gear retaining shafts. I have stock 3.73 ring and pinion. Works for me.

So there's nothing too keep the shafts from sliding out? Mmmmh, I don't see how it could be different with 5.12.
Ring diameter should be the same.
How could the pinion be "higher" on the ring?
I don't get it....

Could somebody please explain me slowly what went wrong?

Re: Need HELP from lockright 1530 owners (Sidekick)...

The Sidekick gears have a gap between them and the carrier which allows the carrier pins to slide out. You would need what is called a retaining can to hold the pins into the carrier. If you only destroyed one gear you still need to replace both since they are matching sets.
