Breather on Tranny?

88 Suzuki Samurai

Is there a breather on the tranny? I know that to get one on the transfer case you need to remove it. Is this the same for the tranny? How worried should I be about betting a breather on the tranny? Is a must for water running?

Yes there is a breather on the tranny. It is located on the top of the tranny near the shifter lever. Pain in the butt to get to but it can be done with some patience. As to how deep and much water fording you plan on doing will dictate as to weather you should do it.

I believe that if you remove your rubber shift boot the breather is in reach from in the cab. I'm not positive, but it is worth a try.

You can see the breather from inside the vehicle if you remove your rubber boot. If you want to add a vent line to it, you'll have to drill a hole in the top of it to plumb a hose to it.
