Centrifugal Advance Disty on the Sammy?

When did this take place? My 1994 came centifugal, not the leak prone vacuum advance I've seen in all the other Sammys.

Did it start it 1994?

The real question Tim is when they removed the vacuum diaphragm. They always had both centrifugal and
vacuum controls on the timing.

Re: Centrifugal Advance Disty on the Sammy?

I woulda thunk so too. but I've now seen several early EFI Kicks with Vacuum advance distys, up to 91. Somewhere between then and 94 they changed.

I figured it might be 94, as the FSM has a suppliment for 94-95. I know most states required OBDII in 1995, so that may also lend to the phase-out of the Sammy.

Re: Centrifugal Advance Disty on the Sammy?

Got me to thinking. (thats scarey) I just went out to look at the 91 I have, and yep, no vaccumn advance. So that means that it is wome of the advance is controled by the computer Or maybe all of it. I didn't get into the dist.

Re: Centrifugal Advance Disty on the Sammy?

Are the non vacuum advanced distributors not electronicaly controlled? That'd be a solution to a turbo vacuum advance problem!

It should be electronic controled. I know that in order to set timing you have to short 2 pin in one of the plugs together.
