1600 Sidekick Engine - Highway Speed?

What is the max. highway speed you can do with a stock geared sami with a sidekick 1600cc engine built in?

Thanks for your help, Igor - Slovakia, Europe

Not a modified Sammy, but my Tracker with the 1.6 throttle body injection has gotten up to 90mph or about 138kph. I wouldn't trust it much faster than that (besides that's where the speedo stops).

Re: 1600 Sidekick Engine - Highway Speed?

my 89 sidekick, 8valve, 5spd, tops out at around 155 kph, or around 96 mph. speedo reads to 150 kmph. oh, and above 145, be patient. it screams at that speed mind you, but i regularly run it at 135 to 140 for a couple hours at a time, and i have it up to 140 nearly every day, for short stretches, to fit in traffic. a sammy likely feels much less stable on the highway at high speed.

I run 30" tires on my Sami and can hit about 75 on the highway with my stock gears and 1600cc sidekick 8 valve.

I have a 1600 with the torquer cam and a header. I could cruise easily around 75 and pass easily up to 85 - even better when I was drafting behind trucks- with stock gears & stock tires.
