STRONG VIBRATION

after a long highway trip, driving along at 70 all of the sudden this un Godly Vibration.

now I cant get past 20 MPH without it shaking violently..

it has relaively new tires, all of he drivelines are tight, new U joints, all the bolts are there, the tranny and engine mounts are solid..

what internal thing could cause this?
I do know hte clutch is on its last leg, its 120K miles, and adjusted to the max so its very thin...

any ideas are welcomed, this is a daily driver, well now its a sub 20 MPH daily driver..

thanks

Re: STRONG VIBRATION

is the vibration related to engine speed, or only vehicle speed? i mean, can you rev the engine at a stop and not get the vibration?

Re: STRONG VIBRATION

92 model 2 wheel drive, recently onverted to 4 wheel drive, it drove fine for 3 weeks after the conversion...

the motor deos seem to have a miss also, I just drove it, it does it even in nuetral while costing if going over 15 MPH'
the transfer case shifter is wobbling badly when this happens..

and I hear a loose clanking underneath, but i can find anoy missing or broken, or loose mounts..

any ideas?

Re: STRONG VIBRATION

Have you tried pulling the driveshafts and checking u-joints? Every time one of my Zuks has had a vibration it has always been a bad u-joint.

Re: STRONG VIBRATION

well, we had the shafts off when we swapped the 4wd tranfercase in and we swapped a few of the U joints..

this is more vibration than ive ever had from any vehicle with a bad U joint..

although ill check, Im running out of ideas..

I think Ill drop the rear drive shaft and try driving it in 4wd to see if I can isolate it front to rear
thanks for your help!

Re: STRONG VIBRATION

1.Check tires for "bubble" on the tread pattern, tire may be coming apart from the inside
2.put a jack under the t-case, lift up to see if the mounts hold. mine was broke and gave a vibration under acceleration.
3. check the wheel lugs to be sure they are tight.

thats about all i can think ofto check if you already have not . almost sounds like a carrier bearing on a long wheel base truck
good luck, post what you find.

Re: STRONG VIBRATION

Had bad vibration on 4 cly engine due to cross fire on
dist. cap small crack carbon tracking cause this it did
cause bad shack on trans. Test for this condition simply
turn key off while driving 20mph if vibration stops then it
is engine related if vibration is still there then it is
suspension, drive trane and or wheel tire problem.

Also had a combo bad shake and engine miss found this to be
a broken piston rod same key to off 20mph test above will
also show up on this too as crank shaft imbalance.

Re: STRONG VIBRATION
