How to remove Yokes?

I have tried a slide hammer, sledge hammer and all the &%*^(*$$ words I can come up with and still no luck. So does someone know a trick to get the yokes off of the front and rear 3rd member's?

Re: How to remove Yokes?

I had one a few months ago that I finally had to use a 3 jaw gear puller. Most of the time the pinion flanges are relatively easy to get off, but sometimes you come across one that is a real pain.

Re: How to remove Yokes?

Try using a bit of heat where the lock washer hits the flange next to the shaft . Don't use too much or you'll fry the seal . If you've already hit the end of the shaft hard , replace the bearings and races on the pinion and reset the gears or you'll wish you had . If you do remove or change flanges , the pre-load has to be reset on the pinion bearings .

Re: How to remove Yokes?

Why can't just one thing be simple on these zuk's? My bronco yoke came right off and the new one went right on with no problem. Oh well, I will try again this weekend.
