What speed can you hold climbing a long 6% grade?
How fast do you want to ?

Re: Measured 1.6L 16V performance?

Well, you can estimate your actual speed based on the relative changes you have made.

First, your 6:1 transfer case gears are designed to correct for about 32" tires. So if you are on true 35" tires now, thats a 35/32 = 1.094 or 9.4% overdrive effect. If you speedo says 90 mph, you are actually going about 98.5mph.

Second, your axle ratio is now 5.29 instead of the stock 3.37. Here you have an underdrive of about 42%. Multiply your estimated big tire speed of 98 by (1-.42) and you get about 57mph.

Seems too slow but if I'm mistaken I'm sure somebody will correct me

Re: Measured 1.6L 16V performance?

Sorry, I have not measured it from 0-60 or the 6% grade.

but I have been driving some steep hills (freeway type driving) but don't know what grade it was, anyway, I have stock gearing and 31's and did not have to drop down to 4th gear, but once and even then it wasn't for long.

also on the freeway I had it peel out when I shifted to 5th and romped on the gas.

and I have been able to leave people in the background when taking off and accelerating on to the freeway.

I have very much enjoyed the 1600 16v engine, it really is a great setup and actually helps get better gas mileage than I was getting with my 1.3 squirrel and hampster engine that suzuki put in there to begin with.

they should have put the 16v engine in there in the first place.

hope this helps.
