Header time- got a question

Is there any difference between the Thorley header @ around 190.00 and the hedman/pacesetter header for 150.00?
any input is appreciated as I plan to order one Monday. Just not sure which one to go with.

Re: Header time- got a question

Don't have a thorley on my zuk yet, but I will when I do it. I have had headman, hooker, summit, and other brands of headers on v-8's in the past. Curently have a set of thorleys on 2 vans, one dodge and one ford. You could not give me any other brand. Thorley is the best in my book.

thanks for the input. I found a few article's on Thorley. Sounds like they're worth the money.

Re: Header time- got a question

In those SCORE desert races, I think they use Thorley Headers because they put the Thorley decal on when they race in the desert. But I never looked under the hood of those trucks.

Re: Header time- got a question

I just put the thorley on my sami with a fInj 1.6 in it. 2 inch all the way back to a muffler. Sounds great & what a difference it made. It looks cool too the way it turns blueish. Now if I can just get my mega flow K&N in - I will be ready to move on to alternators & an optima.

Re: Header time- got a question

I rana Hedman for awhile at first until it rusted and broke apart on the trail one day. Also, when I first rec'd the Hedman, I had to take it to a shop to have soe welding done on it as it leaked in the center of the 4into1 collector. Since then I've only used a Thorley. The same header is now about 6 years old and still going strong.

There's a good cost difference, there's also a good durability and quality difference. Another thing you'll notice with the Thorley over any other header is the gauge thickness of the mounting flanges. They're very thick so they never heat warp. On other headers we've owned, Hedman and Calmini, the flanges would warp and we'd blow gaskets periodically causing exhaust leaks. Basically pain in the butts that had to be dealt with regularly. We even sell a thick aluminum gasket to try and help these guys out.
