What makes those piles of junk valuable is the VIN numbers. I know some guys that have a shop that builds custom Harleys. When you build a $45,000 custom bike you need the numbers to get it regestered. At least out here in Cali. that's how it works.

Looks like - to me anyways - that ole' Bubba couldn't swing that $500.00 a month motorcycle payment so he got himself a can of sterno and set it under the tank.

That blob of molten metal is your key to a new motorbike. A salvage title means that you rebuilt your totalled vehicle to "as new" condition. In a world of unsavory individuals, a salvage title means you can steal a 2002 Harley, put the VIN from your salvage title on it, and drive off into the sunset. (hence the hefty price for absolute garbage)
