Does anyone know where I can get an inexpensive u-joint press? I found them on Snap-on tools website but thats way to much cash. I'm looking for some thing I can carry with me on the trail. Last Sunday I broke one ane had to remove the rear driveshaft and drive home in front wheel drive, not something I want to do again.
Harbor Freight . Cheap and fairly decent quality . I got my ball joint press there too. The ball joint was 30.00 or so and the Universal one was 25.00 I think . Its trouble when the Harbor Freight store is only 2 miles away .
Or you can use a 6-7 inch C clamp and 2 sockets. I found 2 clamps some years ago at a neigbors yard
sale, cut a sleeve out of some heavy tubing about 1" long +, and another punch out of a 3/4" bolt. Done.
Cost me near $0
Jimmy, I would get the harbor freight one! If your looking at something that will be cheap, that is the way to go. I think I seen them up at the one near my house on 161 and Clev. Ave. I'd check it out.
