was offered cheap tires...

i was offered cheap tires as the previous owner did not like it. Only about 1000 miles on it.

The problem is that I am not sure if it would fit the sammy.

The size is 235/80-R15...... yes aspect ration of 80 and that would bring to a diameter of 29.8" by 9.25" wide.

would these tires fit on the stock 5.5" rims and 2.5" taller shackles?

Re: was offered cheap tires...

I think, not speaking from experience here, they should fit the rim fine. With that setup thought I would expect those tires to have some mild rubbing with the front tires, I think the rear ones would be fine. If you trim the bumper ends and mounts and pound down those fender seams, maybe you will be ok
Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer though.
If they are cheap enough just go ahead and get them, and if you get a little bit larger lift then you can just throw those on there.
Good Luck

... maybe the previous owner did not like them for a particular reason ...

point being... there's nothing more annoying then to be stuck with a set of bad tires, that come w/ a 90,000 miles treadwear guarantee ;o)

Thanks fro your replies. The person that wants to sell the tires got a new set of michelins installed on his rig as he is used to the ride and feel of his mercedes benz.

he did not like the ride of the previous tires.

I think I'll get them.
