Re: Pics Of Your Garage Or Shop ??

Crow, What major tools do you have and what power is available? Can you move/add power outlets
if needed? I like my welders to be close to the big door as possible, but the dryer 220 is usually at
the other end.

I ran a sub panel and rewired my whole garage in surface mounted conduit after insulating and
sheetrocking the place.

I have 2 outlet box's hanging down in the middle of the garage so I have one on each side of the vehicle
thats supposed to be in the middle of the garage. That used to be my race car.

I have one 6' bench topped with formica countertop and lag bolted to the wall and that has one of my
vices on one corner.

The back wall is nearly covered with shelves from about 5' up

After that things start falling into place. I need to make my roll around closer to the big door too, that
or get the dang garage emptied out so i can bring in a car at all!

Try for a "work triangle" in concept like a kitchen, so you can have the things you use the most, near
where you use them. Form should follow function.

Most of my bench tools are mounted on a board, and racked, so I can stick them on a Black and Decker
workmate for use. This keeps the bench mostly free of those tools.

A lot of it depends on what you do in the garage.

Re: Pics Of Your Garage Or Shop ??

Good topic crow! I just got done remodling my 60 yr. old garage! I'm at work now but I'll post some pics when I get home tonite for ya! I started with old wiring, open stud walls, uneven floor etc. Lots of work but it turned out beautiful! One thing I will tell you now, is to invest in some garage floor expoxy. Stuff is well worth it! Looks awesome and cleans up way better then a painted floor. I did one half where I park my car with it. The other half I painted, wife said buy more expoxy and do the rest it looks much better. I wish I had earlier before pics but I forgot. I started taking pics after I had all the walls ready for paint. I made a big workbench and installed some kitchen cabnets for more storage room. You can see it all in the pics. Oh and if you paint your walls, paint them white! Makes it much brighter! Any questions just ask!

Re: Pics Of Your Garage Or Shop ??

No pics of my garage that you have to continually climb over stuff to get into. 3 bays and it's stuffed full. For Christmas my wife got me plans and permits for the garage of my dreams. Approx 1550 square feet is my design. Been through the water district, health dept and my drawings should be back this week. I'll submit to the city next week and hope to start by June 1 and closed in by end of August
