1.3L Turbo

I'm thinking of turbocharging my Zuki. I'm trying to find a small enough turbo w/wastegate (since it's experimental). The only one I can really find that will do the job is off a dodge 2.2L. The only problem with it though is that it will produce boost too late in the RPM curve due to it's size. Anyone out there in the Zukidom have another consideration I might use? I'm figuring on only 3-4lbs. boost max. Thanks

Re: 1.3L Turbo

hey i think there is a turbo swift (suzuki) or there was the turbo sprint by chevey . they had more of the size engine your looking for .the only thing is that running a turbo you really should get the engine balanced and blueprinted .

Re: 1.3L Turbo

the turbo chev sprint had a suzuki 1.0 litre 3 cyl engine. it made 70 hp. those parts would probably be easier to make work for you.

Re: 1.3L Turbo

Turbocharging your Zuk is not experimental. Turbo Tune Ltd. made a kit for the Samurai using a Garret T-2 turbocharger. The kit came with a new exhaust manifold and exhaust system. Don't know if they still make the kit or if they are still in business. Their phone number is (919)854-1111, the area code may have changed to (336).

Re: 1.3L Turbo

Thanks for all the input. I am going to totally redo the engine. The 1.0L is probably just right for this application, sounds very feasable, but I'll still keep the ears and eyes open. The phone # that was provided, is that a NC based company? I just moved from there and I am familiar with the area codes if you know roughly where they are located. Once again thanks.

Re: 1.3L Turbo

Hi one of our club members had a turbo 1.3 Suzuki. The turbo came from a 2.5 Ford Transit Diesel with the waste gate welded shut. I don't know what pressure it put out but it really went reving well past 10,000 revs. Somehow the engine never blew but fuel consumption was about 4 English miles to the gallon. The vehicle was a pick up modified from leaf to coil suspension. Built for fast rally work. Not much good for the type of trailing we do in England.
