If the head is ok, you prolly could get a good used shortblock for say $400 or so? www.car-part.com

Re: need opinions or fact

as far as I know the head is good just the hole in the block right in front of the oil filter. As far as parting the rig out I dont think that will happen its in really nice shape and I will keep this one to use to mock up all my new creations on. the Rat has turned into a buggy/zuk this one will be for mild fun.. but mostly for mocking up bumpers sliders and cage designs. You know the stuff you cant do any longer for the average zuk when yours has been stretched rails cut mounts moved all kinds of tube By the way im not lookin to get this one running any time soon just want to know what I should look out for if something should pop up somewhere...

Re: need opinions or fact

i have a couple of 1.6 blocks ...they are 8 valve but if you plan on using just the block that won't matter. could be traded for some of that neat stuff you make .

Re: need opinions or fact

my opinion is keep it a 1.6 since it already is converted to 1.6 16 valve. when you replace the 1.6 do your self a favor and keep the revs down or you find out why i call 1.6 bottom ends "rod munchers".

1.6 rods are thin and fragile.....take one out of the blown 1.6 and compare it to a stock 1.3 rod and you will see what i am talking about.
