1.6 sidekick on SJ410

I know that you guys in EUA don't have many SJ410 But...
What might be different from instaling the engine on a SJ413 ??

Re: 1.6 sidekick on SJ410

I've got an SJ410, & I've looked into this swap. First of all, if you have the 4-speed, the adapter plate does not work, so now you're looking at a gearbox too. The motor mounts are different, and I believe the drive shafts are different as well. I'm sure it could be done, but it wouldn't be a "bolt-on" conversion.

Re: 1.6 sidekick on SJ410

In England there are three different SJ410.The 1982to about August 83used a mk 1four speed gearbox. From August 83the mk2 four speed box was fitted. This is much bigger than the MK1 box and requires modification to the rear mounting requiring the chassis cross member to be modified. The transmission tunel on the MK 2is wider than the mk1 with the hole for the gear lever in the body slightly longer. The third type uses a five speed box. Unfortunately no 410box will fit a 413.I have seen many 413engine and gearbox fitted to the 410chassis, running with 410 running gear and LJ diffs pulling 33or 35"tyres. If you want to change from 413 to 410 not only will you need engine and gearbox but also axles as 410 diffs will not fit 413 axle cases.
Hope this helps
Gordon
