need opinions

Alright, here is the story. I have had multiple zuks in the past. Have had some problems with trannys too. I have no shortage of spare trannys, but I am tired of messing with them. Need to swap a new one in soon, and after Tiftonia this weekend, I definately need a clutch too. The problem is, I bought a 95 tracker for the motor. It is a 2wd automatic. I have read somewhere that this is a better tranny than stock. Don't remember where I read this. I will have a 2 inch body lift soon, is this enough to clear the tranny, or will I need a 3 inch??? Since a stick tracker has 5:12 gears and a auto has 4:62, I think it is safe to assume that over all, the auto is geared lower for a final drive... Does anybody know the specs on one??? I know I will have to fabricate mounts, but will I have to modify the drive shaft? I want all the info I can get before I do it. I know about the tranny cooler, and shifter, just need these other things answered if anybody knows. She is my daily driver, so I can't have her down long.
Thanks in advance..

Re: need opinions

hey BillyBob- Whats the condition of the 95 Tracker that you cannibalized? I am looking for a Tracker/ Sidekick body for a project. I don't need tranny or engine, or axles for that matter, just a body and frame. Let me know what you have, Luke

Check with Hawk Suzuki, 1-888-SAMURAI. I'm pretty sure they have done this swap.

Re: need opinions

I'm setting up a stadium truck with the 1.6 and 3speed auto tranny.I've found several things of interest. When you log on to suzuki bbs right above it is contents, click there instead and scroll down until you find the article about the 1.6 and auto trans. Then scroll up or down I cant remember until you find the geo tracker veh specs,I think they offered the auto in 90,I also think that certain years offered the auto with 5.12 gears, and some with 4.62.Alot of the info is in the contents.

Re: need opinions

Hey Luke,

Hows it going? I don't know if I want to part with whats left right now. I have some plans I hashing around right now. I do know of one for sale locally for around $700 bucks. It has had a bunch of body work done in the past. I looked at it at dusk one evening. I was going to buy it if it had power steering, but it didn't so I passed. I don't even know if it is still there. It is a 87 or 88 model. Don't know if it is a 1.3 or 1.6 in it. It is 4wd and has a 5 speed. The body work is VERY VERY sloppy. It appears to have been rolled (probably) because every body panel I looked at has mud (body filler) in it. They said it runs, but I never heard it run. They say that it has water in the oil. I don't know the cause of it. If you may be interested, I will try to find the number again for it. To my knowledge, it does have a clear title. It is located in south east kentucky.

Re: need opinions

Thank you for your response Billy Bob- and thank you for the lead on the rolled one. It sounds like its awfully rough for $700. I'll keep it in mind and get back to you if I need to. Thanks again, Luke

Re: need opinions

Hey Luke,
No problem man. I figured you or someone else may be interested. It just did not have the part I want. It is a complete truck though if anybody else is interested. It sounds like you want to make a ultimate tracker too. I got plans for it when I am done with the sammy. I will keep my eyes open for you if you want.
