squealing brakes

My brakes just recently started squealing especially first thing in the mornings. I've had them checked out at two different shops and they both said the brakes are fine and that it is a quirk with the brake pads on a Sami. Has anyone else had this problem and is there anything I can do to fix it other than put new brakes on and hope the noise goes away. Any input would be appreciated.

Re: squealing brakes

I've owned several Samurais over a dozen years and been around hundreds of them. I've never heard of any brake problems and squealing. It has to be something wrong with either your pads and/or the rotors. There is anti-squeal stuff you can spray on them from auto parts stores. Never tried it though.

Re: squealing brakes

Mine do the same but only when it is cold (<20oF) or really wet and only the rear drums!

When the Sammy warms up they stop.

I just live with it.

Re: squealing brakes

Ive had this problem. But as you say, only in the morning. What Ive dismissed it as is simply dew in the summer on the more humid days. And in the winter, ice that has melted. I just step on the brakes a few times and it doesnt do it anymore.

Yes, that happened to me last month. My brakes were making noise and I took the car to the brake shop. Everything was fine when they looked at it. =D

Re: squealing brakes

Thanks for all the input. I'm glad to know its not just me. Guess I'll live with it - small price to pay for all the fun I have driving my Sami. Thanks again.
