4WD noise/vibration
10 inches of snow last weekend meant that it was time to show my wife how to engage 4WD etc so that she can avoid driving her roller-skate ford ranger.

Anyway lock hubs, engage 4WD high and everything was normal for a couple of miles until the vehicle pulled to the right and made a noticeable vibration. This only stopped when I managed to disengage 4WD (but only after a fight on the lever and a clunk).

Can any one give me any answers/ feedback. I have got seals etc to service front hubs would my problem lie there?

What type of vehicle? Could be a front axle shaft, CV joint or differential. If it was snow and iciy I would probably be willing to go with an axle CV joint.

With engine off put vehicle in gear and traansfer case in 4 wheel drive. Jack up front end and place on jack stands. Lock one hub at a time and try to rotate wheel by hand, see if it's only one side. Then from underneath while turning you could lok and see if you can see where the bind is, or if one of your boots are torn, which will probably mean a shot CV joint.
