sooty tail-pipe

I have leaned off the carb as much as possible but the tail pipe seems a little sooty. I may have choke Problems and have a section from the factory manual to look at servicing the choke. Things is I do not trust the vacuum hose connections- I think the prior owner messed around a little too much.

Does anyone have a diagram showing all the vacuum connections for the carb?

Re: sooty tail-pipe

you can see if the choke is openning all the way just by looking at it. if it is wide open after running for a few minutes, it should be ok. is your idle mix too rich? my 89 sidekick has the same thing, and always has, for what it's worth. i think it's just the way they are.
