linhcon locks!

Ok I know it's not great and yes I know it will mess your axle up but what if it never see's the road? curious if I lock the axle's with a welder. will it break? or how long before it breaks? I think it would be fine for most instants but what about when I come to solid granit or solid rock like moad! then it would be likely to break?
Thanks!

Re: linhcon locks!

Lockers are cheeper then an axle, get the locker, save an axle!

I say this from knowing someone (a Buddy) that wishes he had bought the Lockers.

Re: linhcon locks!

Lockers = ~$200 each = put in once & forget it.
Welding the diff. = ~free if you have a welder, but you Will snap an axle(s) sooner than with a locker = having extra axles ($) and PITA of replacing them. Forget steering if you weld up the front end.

Multiply this by 5 if you play on rocks instead of soft stuff.

Go with the choice that best suits you

Re: linhcon locks!

I've known two guys who "lincoln lockered" their vehicles and trailered them to the trailheads. Both guys ended up getting rid of the setup after lots of expensive carnage.

Dave has a point, at a price under $200, the locker is going to be cheaper than one lost ring and pinion or 2 axles. Something has to give, even off road. I've "saved" enough money over the years to learn that sometimes it can cost hundreds to save thousands on these vehicles (Does that make sense???).
