Cost to fix wrecked Zuk

So far the estimate to fix my Zuk is at $1800.00. The insurance company wants to total it. I told them they could for $2500.00. Will see Monday if they agree. If so will buy back as salvage probably and fix myself. The $1800.00 fix includes repianting in original blue and fixing the bumper with a new SCHROCK BUMPER.

Re: Cost to fix wrecked Zuk

Why do they want to total it. There's nothing wrong with it. What's going to cost $1800.00 to fix it?

Re: Cost to fix wrecked Zuk

I didn't question the dealers estimate as he was punching in the numbers on his computer console. The cost of repairs is between the GM dealer that the person who pulled out in front of me and I hit and her Allstate Insurance representative. If that's what they say it'll cost that's between them. I just want the Zuk fixed and/or totaled for $2500.00 and I'll walk, probably take the money and buy a VW Jetta Diesel as I'm 63 and getting ready to maybe retire. I can always find another Zuk to play with.

Re: Cost to fix wrecked Zuk

If they will give you $2500 (pull Ebay sales that show zukes going for that + if they give you static)
buy it back from them and have it fixed. it can't cost a fraction of that, and you will probably get
it for peanuts.

Re: Cost to fix wrecked Zuk

I would just like to thank all of the wonderful people who screw their insurance companies and all the wonderful ambulance chasers who help them! So that I can pay half of what my car is worth every year just to drive it.

I guess I am just the dumb ass who is a little to honest for my own good. 2 wrecks at others fault in the past 3 years and I have yet to rectally probe anyone.

Re: Cost to fix wrecked Zuk

I've been driving for over 50 years now. Guess in 50 years I estimate I've paid at least an average of $1200.00 a year for auto insurance or 50 X $1200.00 = $60.000.00. No claims of any kind against my insurance carrier ever. Who is screwing who? Maybe the vast majority of good drivers may be substidizing some folks like you state???????? Just like the real reason you pay health insurance is so you won't have to stand in long lines for service in the emergency room with the ones who don't pay, eh!!! Many of those could pay but don't and we who do pay for thier service. I just want my Zuk fixed and/or totaled for a portion of what I've got invested in it. What dumb ass wouldn't expect this from the insurance carrier who ran into them. Heck I could have asked for a rental car and didn't, could have required them to tow the Zuk and didn't, could have hollered "oh my back and neck pain" and didn't. A lot more I could have done and didn't. Compalin some where else to someone who might listen.
