No Start

Hey guys,

Got a 86 zuk with a 1.3 engine 66,000 orig miles. Did a weber swap on the carb. Tried to crank it over and no joy. Went through the usual list of crap to check. I'm not getting a spark to the plugs.Dave at asian auto said to make a jumper wire to go from the + of the battery to the + of the coil and i should hear a relay contact in the distributor.I don't hear the contact clicking. I put the ground from the distrib housing to the firewall, didn't have one , and i went out and bought a new coil. Plugs and wires look good as with everything else. I am about to take the BFH to the engine. Can anybody in my area help me with this? Time and energy greatly appreciated.

Re: No Start

I went through a simular problem last summer. Before you get too carried away, check the fuse for the distributer and see if it's O.K.

Re: No Start

Sounds like the dist died. Ignitor or pick up. Get a dist out of a wreck and try it. if it works and is in good
shape your set. Dists are usually cheap in yards.

To test the coil, disconnect it, ground the neg post and tap on the positive post with a hot lead. See if
you get any spark.

Re: No Start

I am sending him a Distributor..even though I bet it's something so simple he is going to be pissed when he finds out what it is.....might try a test light and see if the power is getting to the distributor.....and run it down from there if it isn't....

I just had the same trouble with one and it was the neutral safety switch....

anyway....put the gun down and step away from the Zuk
