Stalling, no power, all around running liike crap?

I noticed over the last couple days when I'm getting ready to take off and let the clutch out and press the gas peddle the engine toally bogs out and tries to die. I thought I may have gotten some bad gas but it doesn't do it all the time, at first it was right when I took off now it does it doing 55 or so down the highway, press the peddle and there is just nothing there. If I back off and just feather it lightly it seems fine, but if I press it down further it bogs out and there is no power.

This thing I think needs the carb adjusted big time anyway cause it wants to idle at 1800 rpm's and it's only getting about 20 miles to the gallon (highway and in town).

My Dad's Ranger did that same bogging out occasionally and like 3 days later the timing belt broke on it. Could that be it or just it sound like some kind of sticking choke/carburator problem? Bleh its making me mad!

This might sound dumb but it just happen to me. Are your gas lines freezing up?

Boy irish ans sami 88.5 are onto something. Change that filter and put in some gas line antifreeze.
Also check for loose or leaking vacuum lines, and bad grounds. Both are common.

Mine started doing similar stuff this morning! It'd idle real low, try to stall, and while cruising it'd hiccup a bit. When I first read your post I thought perhaps your exhaust is clogged up (cat, probably), but the fuel filter sounds plausible, too. I think mine is just bad gas.

Ya but if it was the fuel filter being dirty then why would it get worse gas milage. Anyways mine has been doing the same thing for about 5 months now and I've even changed the fuel filter and no difference. I can't figure out what's wrong with it. For the gas milage part I was getting around 28 miles/gallon, but when it started running bad it was only getting 18 miles/gallon. I managed to get it up to 20 miles/gallon by unhooking my secondary.

Check your vacuum advance. Sounds like you are not getting any advance to me. Or maybe try resetting your timing, advance it a little and see if it helps.

If the vacuum advance is working properly, your probably right on by assuming that it's a fuel delivery problem.
