Fuel Filler Hose Shield ??

I just moved my rear axle rearward 3/4" and was wondering what mods if any were done to the shield to clear the tire. I'll probably flex it up again to see if it's really an issue.

Mines back an inch or so. No problems with the filler shield.

Here's a pic under full compression, although it's the driver's side and before I relocated the axle.....
Guess I'll have to go for longer shackles to get the clearance....

I wasn't even aware that there was a aheild until I saw it on my friend sammy. When I bought mine somebody had already removed it. If you remove it I think you will gain yourself at least an inch of clearence.

Re: Fuel Filler Hose Shield ??

Doesn't removing it expose the filler tube to flying rocks?
I would think that there should be some form of protection on it....

Re: Fuel Filler Hose Shield ??

CrowHorse,
I modified mine. I will try taking a picture for you. I haven't remounted it yet. I did this a few days ago. I took out an inch of it and mig welded it back together . The shield now sets about an eighth of an inch from the filler tube. The frame mount screws still line up but the top ones will not.
