tranny plugs..1 or 2????

i picked up a tranny at the junkyard the other day. It was from a 88.5 sami. it only has 1 plug on it. all the other trannys i've seen have always had 2 plugs. this one was not missing it .. it was never there because the hole isn't there. why only one plug? and which plug does what? Re: tranny plugs..1 or 2????

the back plug is the 5th gear switch right?
Did they do away with them? Maybe that is a later tranny from an EFI truck, I don't think they had the 5th gear switch. I know the EFI kicks don't.

Just guessing here, I assume the one switch is for your backup lights. The other (missing) one is a 5th gear switch that defeats the EGR system on carbed Zuks. Did that tranny come from an EFI Zuk?

Zuks with EGR have the 5th gear switch, those without EGR don't. I have one of each sort sitting outside, an 86 with EGR and a 87 without.
