Pug, I do not have their kit, but the one pro I would see from it, would be that it allows you to still have a cable
driven e-brake at the rear axel...

Re: Trail Tough Rear Disc Brake Kit?

Rich - I spoke with Brent about it and that is the main reason I have interest in this kit along with it's good pricing (compared to Spidertrax anyway)......Brent also told me that a proportioning valve will probably not even be necessary with this setup too. I just wanted someone's "real world" experience with this kit - i.e. installation, performance, etc.

Re: Trail Tough Rear Disc Brake Kit?

Pug,
I didn't use Trail Tough's kit but I have been running
Subaru calipers on Samurai rotors for about four years now.
It's been working great but the calipers seem too powerful.
Even though I installed the Spidertrax proportioning valve
I still can't get the rear tires to stop locking up before
the fronts. This only happens with hard stops on pavement,
I've never noticed this on the trail.Hope this helps.

Re: Trail Tough Rear Disc Brake Kit?

The kit looks good and you don't have to buy the e-brake for your case. But does he have the Subaru calipers? I have had lots of fun rounding up Toyota steering parts and they are popular. I'm not sure I could stand looking for parts less popular than a Zuk. JCC
