Sami clutch problem

Hey all ,
Just bought a sami with a new clutch and pressure plate that won't move . I checked the adjustment and cable and couldn't figure why it wouldn't move in any gear . So , I pulled the tranny out . The tranny works fine , so now I'm thinking clutch related . The only problem is , it does have a new clutch , pressure plate and throw out bearing . It all looks good , but it wouldn't move in any gear and with the clutch cover off you could hear the sound of a clutch that was just touching the flywheel , but not grabbing . Os it possible the clutch was in backwards/ or maybe it's not right for this sami ? It looked like it was in right , but it just didn't engage enough to move the sami . ANy ideas ? Thanks!!

Re: Sami clutch problem

Pull the t-case shifter and look down the hole. If the two notches are alined on the two shift rods it's ok if not thats your problem. Robert

Re: Sami clutch problem

or you could crawl under it and try to turn the intermediat shaft by hand with the tranny in newtral if it turns then the transfercase is in newtral. if you cant get the transfer case shifted out then the shifter sheet is probably in need of replacement another thing to check is if the treanny is in pull the transfercase boot and look to see if the drive line between the tranny and transfercase is turning when the cluch is released the only other thing i have ever seen is the samurai pressure plate has a step in it the swift is flat maybe they have a swift disk and or pressure plate although i dont know if it makes a difference

Re: Sami clutch problem

We made sure it wasnt the t-case first, i layed under it while it was in gear and rocked the sami around, spun the t-case and intermed shaft but didnt go to the motor.
