Tranny mount breaking any ideas

I have an 86 Zuk with 4:16 T-case with reinforced arms and poly bushing mounts, lockers front and rear, 4:30 R/P with a hybrid rear axle, SPOA with shackle reverse, P/S, and 30" tires. I keep tearing my transmission mount. It always happens when I am on washboard gravel roads and at rally speeds. I always know when it happens because the shifter hits me in the leg. Anyone have an idea on a stronger mount or should I keep the stock one so that something can give under these conditions. This mount only lasted 6 months and that is not acceptable. Thanks.

Re: Tranny mount breaking any ideas

sounds like something is causing the mount to break. like maybe another mount. are your motor mounts good? they can appear good at a glance but if you put up the ebrake and have someone let out the clutch alittle bit, you will know if they are broken. hope this helps.

Re: Tranny mount breaking any ideas

My motor mounts are good. I checked them right away. That was the reason for the first mount breaking. I switched to the heavy duty motor mount (Kick stocker). I have had good luck with it so far. Thanks

Re: Tranny mount breaking any ideas

After I posted this I ran across your mount. That looks totally beefy so maybe I will borrow your patent . What do you run for tcase mounts? What thickness of steel did you use for the bracket on that mount? Thanks

Re: Tranny mount breaking any ideas

Let's put the t-case aside for a moment.....

The tranny bracket I made is made from 2" x 1/4" steel. It's in 3 pieces..... There are arranged something like the lines below.

Weld them together and you're almost in business!

Best of all, the moounts are cheap and heaps stronger than the OEM mounts.........

OK, as for my t-case, I rusing the Mighty Kong with poly mounts. It's a sweet setup! Brent recomends using the OEM rubber mounts, but the poly mounts work as well.....
