Cool used military trucks and parts

If you haven't been to this place, check it out! I had fun there:

http://www.boyceequipment.com

among their other treasures, they have good used 36x12.5x16.5 humvvee tires for 75$ + $25 shipping to anywhere in the usa. Other big weird military sized tires, too.

Re: Cool used military trucks and parts

Daxe, you need to come up to Maine when I head back to the junkyard. Talk about cool stuff, they have the Hummer tires for $40 (your pick, but you may have to unbolt them from the Hummer), rims for $20, and the magnesium run-flats for $15. The rims have 7.5" backspacing on an 8.25" rim though, so they sit in a lot. Those tires SUCK (big, huge capital letters, underlined, bold, italicized, and embossed in RED) for just about anything but rock crawling. I have a nice pic of them, if I can find it I'll post it.

Some Hummers that were just arriving.

The junkyard is over a mile long as the crow flies, and there is everything from Mazda cars to Military cranes to 18 wheelers. If you want to come up sometime to check it out, bring some money, a full day, and maybe even a trailer. Then again, if you just want to check it out, let me know, but it's a good 175 miles from my house. It took me 6 hours just to walk through half of it once, never mind actually looking around hard.

Re: Cool used military trucks and parts

Yeah! I remember when you found that place and first posted the pics. Looked like a great place to spend a day wandering around, especially if you have a 'tour guide' who can ID some of it. They throw away some pretty serious stuff.

What I want to know is: if it's military stuff, then we paid for it in the first place. How come we have to BUY it back from them? And if they are getting paid, then how come we aren't getting the money back on our "investment"? Seems to me that not every taxpayer wants some of this great stuff, there' s probably enough of it to go around for any of us who can use it...so they should just give it to us, right?

Re: Cool used military trucks and parts

I asked about them last year, and the guy told me $400 for the portal knuckles, and $1,000 for a complete rolling frame with gas tank. They have a TON of frames there, the ones in the trailer were just arriving.

You can contact Eastern Surplus at (207) 454-8560 , Harry Smith owns the yard, he's a great guy but is a Mainer, so don't push him.
