Ford Focus Seat Install (Part 2)

Okay, NOW I'm happy! If anyone wants details, advice or more pictures just send me a PM. This was not an easy swap, but was well worth the effort. Thanks for looking!

Re: Ford Focus Seat Install (Part 2)

Nice! I wish my bone yards around here kept more up-to-date vehicles, they seem to try and repair anything newer than 1990 and it is hard to find vehicles that have good seats in them. Anyway great job!

Re: Ford Focus Seat Install (Part 2)

Bill, you ask the hardest questions! The Focus seat tracks are flat on the bottom, which is good because the Zuk's floorboards are flat too. However, there are some big tabs riveted to the tracks, so I had to grind off the rivets and remove the tabs. I also had to cut off the adjuster mechanism for the bottom of the driver's seat and weld it in a fixed position. The driver's seat also has bracing and levers underneath which were hitting the floorboard, so I had to raise the seat height by 1". I did that by getting some 1x1" square tubing, chopping it into 2" blocks, welding them to the ends of the tracks, drilling them for 3/8" bolts, and painting them black. Here is a pic of the driver's seat bottom prepped for installation:

Here are close-ups of the blocks I welded to the tracks. The nuts are there to keep the bolts from turning when I'm under the Zuk putting the nylock nuts on:

Then it's time to bolt them down. Talk about a close fit!
